John Walker murdered Francis Henry Wilson who he battered to death at Station Road, Brompton, near Northallerton on 29 April 1950.

John Walker was a lodger who lodged with Francis Wilson who was the landlord.

He took Francis Wilson's wife a cup of tea in the morning and told her that he would have to leave as Francis Wilson was lying dead on the kitchen floor with severe head injuries. After there was a manhunt for John Walker who was beleived to have fled on an old black bicycle.
